The Cosmic Awakening

The RP is set in a fictional post apocalyptic town in Montana in 2078. 54 years ago on June 3, 2024, a large meteor hit the midwestern United States, which had a devastating effect across the world. Upon impact, the United States immediately plummeted into chaos. The country might have been able to prevail through the natural disaster with the aid of foreign nations, but the alien object carried with it a mysterious illness that spread rapidly through the human population. While most of humanity was eradicated, a small subset of humans were able to either avoid the virus or developed an immunity to it. Over the decades that followed, new nations have attempted to form, but most of Earth has become a lawless place as citizens struggle to recreate new civilizations. While the area surrounding the meteor site was abandoned for many years, some folks have found themselves slowly drawn over the years to the crash landing site for an unknown reason. Some say they hear a ringing noise. Others believe it to be a magnetic draw. Conspiracy theorists think a government sonar beckons some to it. New age apostles have established a religious following, which believes that the meteor contains a godly power. Though their numbers are few, these individuals have managed to come together to form an outpost on the outskirts of the crash site. Our story takes place in this community formed by folks drawn to the mysterious land.
